The Gateway – an all purpose venue.

The Seaton Gateway Theatre in East Devon is a registered Charity. Previously the building was an under used and rundown Town Hall owned by East Devon District Council. It annually lost in excess of £30,000 per year and as such was at great risk of being sold. A community group (Seatons Voice) formed and generated a plan to lease out the building and hold events to cover the running costs. Roll on 6 years, lots of hard work and over 60 active volunteers the building has  been transformed into a vibrant entertainment and much used community facility. Part of the original plan had an objective of the building being freely asset transferred back to the people of Seaton, this has been achieved with Seaton Town Council having ownership and The Trustees of Gateway Theatre Company having recently signed a 30 year rolling lease. The management team have recently applied for funding and if successful are hopeful to complete a full refurbishment programme securing this fantastic asset for future generations. Exciting times ahead. Everyone can be involved in securing the future of this charity, if you wish to help you can become a patron for as little as £20 per year. A direct debit can be set up for a monthly payment or  you can pay yearly. Please call 01297 625699 and we are happy to discuss or email Thankyou…
